Effective because not every translated text will have the impact of the original. It may be because the wrong vocabulary was used or because of the way the ideas were expressed..... Also, there is a lot of machine-translated material out there and one can recognize it immediately. I am sure you have seen it in operating manuals and guides coming from the other side of the Pacific Ocean.
